Age Limit: To appear in this exam the age limit is
  • General category:  21 to 32years
  • OBC:   21 to 35 years
  • SC/ST:   21 to 37 years
  • Physically Handicap:  21 to 42years
  • Educational Qualification: Graduation from any stream. The final year appearing student can also appear for the exam.
How many attempts can one give..??
The number of attempts are as under
  • General category – 6
  • OBC – 9
  • SC/ST – No limit till the age of 37 years.
  • Physically Handicapped – 9
 
How much time should one devote for the preparation of Civil Services..??
If qualitative studies are done or one year, devoting 6 hours a day for 6 days a week consistently is sufficient .
What should I keep in mind while choosing an optional subject..??
Firstly, it is not mandatory that your optional subject should be from your stream. It may or may not be the subject of your background. If you are too good at your own subject and can easily solve the paper on the same subject asked by UPSC then you should definitely have it as optional subject. But if you are not able to solve then you should switch on to some other subject..
Will UPSC deduct marks for bad handwriting..??
If a candidate’s handwriting is not easily legible, a deduction will be made on this account from the total marks otherwise accruing to him.
